Dr. Patrick Drew McDaniel.

I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. I am also the co-director of the Systems and Internet Infrastructure Security Laboratory (SIIS), a research group focused on the study of security in diverse network and computer environments. I am a senior member of the IEEE and a member of ACM. Adding to my workload, I recently accepted the position as editor-in-chief of the ACM Journal Transactions on Internet Technology (TOIT).

My current research focus is on network, Internet, telecommunications, and systems security, language-based security, and technical and public policy issues in digital media. For a detailed description of my current activities and planned future research directions, see the research page. A brief professional biography is also available.

The pages linked from the menu at the top of this page cover broadly my research, teaching, and personal activities. Those wishing to speak to me in a professional capacity should contact me via email. Email is probably the most relible way of contacting me (warning, responses may take a couple of days due to travel and other factors).

Note: Students wanting to work with me must be accepted to the University before contacting me, and thereafter only in person. I am not involved in admissions and sending me email will have no impact on your acceptance. Because of the large number of requests I receive, I will not read or respond to any such request received by email.
